The avenue A majestic moat surrounds the whole complex. It covers 1.2 km², the same area as the outer enclosure. From the West Gopura, with three towers (the superstructure being partly destroyed) and five entrance doors, a superb causeway, 370 m, flanked by naga balustrades, leads to a cruciform terrace in front of the temple's main entrance.
