Angkor Wat is an unsurpassed image of the Mount Meru. Corresponding to the five peaks of this mountain, at Angkor Wat five (!) towers were visible from every cardinal point.

Around the Mount Meru are mountains - the enclosure wall.

The moat symbolizes the cosmic ocean.

The temple complex is microcosm, an image of a perfect world, stable and in geometrical harmony.
