Phnom Kulen

The Phnom Kulen ('hill of the lychees') is a large plateau of sandstone, 35 km north-east of Siem Reap. It measures 25 km from the Northwest to the Southeast. Proceeding to the North-West is the plateau of Kbal Spean.

On the Phnom Kulen are three different sites:

• Preah Thom, a relief of the transcending Buddha
  The "Phnom-Kulen" scam
• Mahendraparvata, an ensemble of temples from about 800,
  Temples of Mahendraparvata
• Srah Damrei, a group of sculpted animals.
